The theme of the Uniworld river cruise is "Castles and Vineyards of Bordeaux". As promised, we were able to see and visit many castles, beautiful small villages and, of course, we were always surrounded by vineyards. The Bordeaux airport even has its own vineyard!
Our sightseeing was typically a combination of bus and walking tours. It also included several wine tastings. Since the itinerary was confined to the area of Bordeaux, we had the same 3 Uniworld buses and guides each day. We were all equipped with headsets, so we were able to easily hear the commentary from our guide, when we weren't on the bus.
At Chateau Margaux we saw how horses were used to cultivate the soil between the rows of vines. The owners of this Chateau still occupy the home for brief periods throughout the year.
Chateau D'Arsac and the surrounding grounds were beautiful. Check out the glass tiles on the roof over the entry. After exploring the grounds, we had our first wine tasting.
As part of the wine tasting, we also answered a questionnaire that was used to identify our "wine sign". My wine sign came back "Adventurous". That made me laugh. For those of you who know me, you understand that is not a word I would use to describe myself. Bottom line....I am open to discovering and drinking all types of wine. What a perfect area of the world for me to explore!
